Commissioner for Human Rights

Adam Krzywoń

Appointed as Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights on 1 January 2025.

Adam Krzywoń graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. He was awarded a doctorate in 2010 for his dissertation on the constitutional principles of taxation. In 2018, he was awarded a postdoctoral degree in legal sciences for his monograph on the constitutional protection of labour and employees' rights.

Wojciech Brzozowski, PhD, professor of the University of Warsaw

Appointed as Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights on 1 January 2023

Habilitated doctor of law (2017), professor of the University of Warsaw (since 2020) and Head of the Chair of Law and Religion at the Faculty of Law and Administration. Lecturer on human rights and law and religion at the University of Warsaw. Member of the Legal Sciences Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the terms 2020–2023 and 2024–2027.

The Office

The Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights is an auxiliary unit of the Commissioner for Human Rights. It ensures the execution of the Commissioner’s tasks laid down in the Act of 15 July 1987 on the Commissioner for Human Rights.

The tasks and organisation of the Office are defined in the Statute of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights, which was granted by the Ordinance No 45/2015 of the Commissioner for Human Rights of 19 November 2015.

In accordance with principles specified by the statute, everyone shall have the right to apply to the Commissioner for Human Rights for assistance in the protection of his freedoms or rights infringed by organs of public authority.

Stanisław Trociuk

Deputy Commissioner

Stanisław Trociuk - born on 3 December 1964. He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration, Warsaw University. He completed legal adviser's training.

He has been working in the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights since 1989. Between 1995 and 2001, he has the Director of the Team for Administration and Housing Law at the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights.

He was appointed for the position of Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights on 1 January 2002.
