Valeri Vachev, lawyer, university lecturer, doctor of law, public service official.
Graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw with excellent grades (Summa Cum Laude diploma). In 2019 was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws, based on the dissertation entitled The statute of limitations to prosecute communist crimes as a tool of transformative justice.
Assistant professor at the Department of Criminal Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. Since 2020, Head of Studies at the Faculty.
From 2015 to 2019 worked at the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights, inter alia as head of the Legislation and System of Government Section of the Criminal Law Department. Until his appointment as Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights, employed by the Supreme Court as Member of the Office of Studies and Analyses.
Born and grew up in Sofia, in the family of literature scholar and feminist Professor Albena Vacheva and anthropology professor Nikolay Papuchiev. Speaks English, German and Bulgarian.
