Commissioner for Human Rights

Unclear provisions concerning declaration of death

Date:

The Commissioner for Human Rights for several times appealed to take legislative actions, which would ensure efficient activity of services responsible for maintaining order and security with regard to declaration of death and take care over bodies and remains. In this respect the Commissioner for Human Rights applied to consider the institution of a coroner. In response, the Minister of Health stated that the content of provisions of the Act on cemeteries and burial of the dead as well as its implementing acts raise concerns and require identification. Therefore, the Chief Sanitary Inspector was authorized by the Minister to prepare the draft amendment thereof
