On the second day of her visit in Białystok, Prof. Irena Lipowicz met with the Voivode of Podlaskie Voivodeship, members of parliament and regional senators, as well as representatives of public administration. The discussion was devoted to the problems of local community and plans of cooperation with the Human Rights Defender. Then the Human Rights Defender gave lecture at the University of Białystok on history of Ombudsmen in other countries, and tasks and scope of competence of the Human Rights Defender in Poland. Professor Lipowicz also took part in the City Forum of Non-Governmental Organizations where she familiarised herself with the report on studies concerning the role of non-government sector in social policy implementation and spoke on the human and citizen rights and freedoms in everyday practice.
