Deputy CHR Wojciech Brzozowski at the OSCE Human Dimension Conference
The Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights Wojciech Brzozowski participated on 10 October 2024 in a panel discussion of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe on the role of men in supporting gender equality (Engaging men to support gender equality: from awareness to action).
The panel was organized by the OSCE as part of the 2024 Human Dimension Conference taking place in Warsaw from 30 September to 11 October. The purpose of the panel was to present the OSCE's key recommendations in the area of gender equality, facilitate dialogue by strengthening national equality mechanisms, highlight good practices and discuss future initiatives. The session was opened by First Deputy Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Dr. Tea Jaliashvili.
Deputy CHR Wojciech Brzozowski spoke about the challenges of attracting people from traditionalist backgrounds and religious communities to the ideals of gender equality. He pointed out that while this is not an easy task, equality demands need not and should not be seen as a threat to religious freedom.
The OSCE Human Dimension Conferences are held periodically. Their thematic areas include human rights, rule of law, election observation, equality and non-discrimination, among others.
