Visit of a delegation of lawyers from Thailand to the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights

On 26 February, a delegation from Thailand, consisting of participants in a training programme for senior managers in the field of justice in the public administration sector, visited the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights.
The delegation was led by Charnchai Sawangsagdi, former President of the Supreme Administrative Court of Thailand. Marcin Malecko, Deputy Director of the Constitutional, International and European Law Department, and Maciej Kruk, Deputy Director of the Presidential and International Cooperation Team.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the competences of the Commissioner for Human Rights, his activities and the procedures for receiving and handling complaints addressed to the Commissioner. Participants also compared the main similarities and differences in the human rights protection systems of the two countries. In this context, the guests were particularly interested in the Commissioner's powers in judicial proceedings.
Discussions also focused on the situation regarding the protection of human rights and freedoms in Poland, as well as selected general statements and interventions by the Commissioner in this regard. In particular, much time was devoted to measures relating to freedom of religion and the rights of people with disabilities.
