Study visit of the representatives of Mongolian National Preventive Mechanism

From 3 to 5 June 2025, a delegation from the National Preventive Mechanism of Mongolia undertook a study visit to the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights. The aim of the visit was to facilitate the exchange of experiences between national human rights institutions.
The delegation included Tselmen Yadamjav, Commissioner for the Prevention of Torture in Mongolia, and representatives of the Mongolian NPM: Givaasambuu Delgerbayar, Dorjsuren Nyamdorj and Enkh-Amgalan Suldbayar.
On the first day of the visit, the guests were hosted by Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights Wojciech Brzozowski, who directly supervises the National Preventive Mechanism Department operating at the OCHR. The discussion focused, among other things, on the scope of the mandate of both national preventive mechanisms, their relations with parliaments, and contacts with international institutions in the field of prevention of torture and ill-treatment.
This was followed by a working meeting between the delegation and the Director of the NPM Department, Rafał Kulas; the Deputy Director, Katarzyna Kopystyńska; and other Department representatives. During this meeting, the participants exchanged experiences relating to the activities of national prevention mechanisms. The Polish NPM representatives presented the theoretical and practical aspects of their activities and discussed the methodology of their work. The practical aspects of the activities of the prevention mechanisms, as well as the methods used to exercise competences related to visits to places of deprivation of liberty, were discussed.
