Meeting at the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the situation of aliens in detention centers

The Human Rights Defender, Prof. Irena Lipowicz, participated in a meeting devoted to the situation of aliens staying in guarded centres, which was also attended by, inter alia, Minister of Interior, Jacek Cichocki, Children’s Rights Defender, Marek Michalak and the representatives of non-governmental organisations. In her comments on the draft act on aliens, the Defender spoke, inter alia, about the need to detain families with children only in exceptional situations and about the need for informational campaigns making local communities sensitive to problems of aliens.
