Meeting of CHR Marcin Wiącek with the Chief Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia, Jargalsaikhan Khunan

Commissioner for Human Rights Marcin Wiącek met in his office with the Chief Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia, Jargalsaikhan Khunan, on 5 September 2022. 
The Mongolian Commissioner was accompanied by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia Dorj Barkhas and the third secretary of the Embassy of Mongolia to Poland, Arslan Tuvshin. The meeting was also attended by Poland’s Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights Valeri Vachev.
The meeting was devoted to opportunities for cooperation between the two domestic human rights institutions. The meeting’s participants also talked about the rights of Mongolian citizens in Poland, in particular the possibility for them to turn to the Commissioner’s Office, as well as actions that could be taken to ensure legal assistance to citizens of both countries residing in either country.
During the meeting, the activities of Poland’s National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture were also discussed in the context of ways the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia could draw upon the NMPT’s experiences when conducting new tasks.
The National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia is responsible for monitoring the implementation of human rights and freedoms provisions of the Mongolian Constitution, national laws and international treaties, and is devoted to the protection and promotion of human rights. It is composed of six commissioners.
