Date:

Deputy CHR Wojciech Brzozowski hosted on 28 January 2025 at the Office of the CHR a delegation of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), visiting Poland in connection with the presidential elections to be held on 18 May 2025. The objective of the ODIHR mission, known as the Needs Assessment Mission, is to assess the pre-election environment and preparations for the elections. On this basis, ODIHR will determine the need for further monitoring activities for the upcoming elections.

The main topic of the discussion was the involvement of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the protection of electoral rights, also in the light of past experiences and complaints received by the Office of the CHR. Possible threats to the integrity of the electoral process were also considered.

During the visit to Poland, the delegation met with representatives of bodies and institutions involved in the electoral process, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Electoral Commission and the National Electoral Office, as well as the Supreme Court.
