Commissioner for Human Rights

Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights Wojciech Brzozowski at a meeting on LGBTQIA+ rights at the Canadian Embassy

Date:

Deputy Commissioner Wojciech Brzozowski attended a meeting on LGBTQIA+ rights at the Canadian Embassy on 24 June 2025. During the event, diplomats presented the DCHR with a letter of support for actions promoting equal rights for the LGBTQIA+ community. Katarzyna Kotula, Minister for Equality, also received a similar letter.
For over 10 years, diplomats accredited in Poland and representatives of international organisations have been publishing an open letter expressing their support for the LGBTQIA+ community. In 2025, the Canadian Embassy in Poland coordinated the collection of signatures for the letter. Representatives of the embassies of Australia, Germany and Mexico also attended the meeting. Together with the Canadian Embassy, these embassies form this year's Trio, which coordinates the activities of the Diplomats for Equality group (the previous, current and next year's chairmanship).
Presenting the letter on behalf of 47 embassies and representative offices of international institutions in Poland, the diplomats emphasised their support for efforts to raise public awareness of the issues faced by LGBTQIA+ people. Wojciech Brzozowski confirmed that the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights is and will continue to be an ally of minority groups campaigning for equal rights and respect for their dignity.
