A delegation from the British Embassy visited the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights

On 6 May 2025, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights hosted a meeting between a delegation from the British Embassy in Warsaw and CHR representatives on the situation at the Polish-Belarusian border.

The meeting was attended by First Secretary for Foreign and Security Policy Anna Baird and Senior Executive Officer for Justice and Home Affairs Marika Kosiel-Pająk. The Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights was represented by the Chief Coordinator for Strategic Cooperation Maciej Grześkowiak and the Head of Unit in the Department for Equal Treatment Marcin Kusy.
Participants at the meeting discussed the current situation at the Polish-Belarusian border and changes to legislation in this area. Representatives of the CHR presented the position of the Commissioner on current topics related to the situation at the border, such as the limitation of the right to submit applications for international protection, the so-called pushbacks and the buffer zone along the border.
Possible scenarios for future developments were also discussed, including the expected judgment of the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights in the case of R.A. and Others v Poland.
