The CHR’s Representative for the rights of persons with disabilities took part in a conference in Bratislava marking the 15th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

On 17 September 2025, a conference was held in Bratislava to mark the 15th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Monika Wiszyńska-Rakowska, the Commissioner's Representative for the rights of persons with disabilities, took part in the conference. 
Monika Wiszyńska-Rakowska was a speaker on a panel on European cooperation for the implementation of the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In her speech, she referred to changes in the implementation of the right to accessibility in the area of architectural and information and communication accessibility of public entities, digital accessibility, as well as the availability of certain products and services. She also referred to the draft law on supported decision-making instruments and planned changes in the area of electoral law, the right to marry and the right to work.
The conference provided an opportunity to evaluate the actions taken, share good practices and engage in an open discussion on the challenges that still accompany the implementation of the rights of persons with disabilities. The panel was attended by representatives of bodies monitoring the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria and Croatia.
