The Commissioner for Human Rights Marcin Wiącek participated in the General Assembly of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI), , held on 28 and 29 October in Brussels.
The event was also attended by the Director of the Executive Operations and International Cooperation Department, Maciej Kruk, and Anna Chabiera from the Equal Treatment Department, who co-chairs the ENNHRI working group on the rights of older persons.
The first day of the conference began with a meeting of the ENNHRI working group chairs. Following that, during the plenary session, the annual activity report and financial statement of the organization were presented and adopted. Conference participants also held a discussion on ENNHRI's strategic plan for the coming years.
The second day of the conference was dedicated to elections for the bodies of ENNHRI and GANHRI (i.e., the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions). There was also a debate on the impact of legal measures introduced in response to specific types of threats (such as armed conflict or epidemics) on human rights.
The European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) brings together over 40 National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) across Europe to enhance the promotion and protection of human rights in the region. The network provides a platform for collaboration and solidarity in addressing human rights challenges and a common voice for NHRIs at the European level.
