The Commissioner has lodged an application to the Constitutional Tribunal on the amendment to the Act on the Police. The Commissioner for Human Rights requests the examination of the conformity with the provisions governing the use of operational surveillance and intercepts, as well as the collection of telecommunications, postal and Internet data. Actions aimed at the protection of the safety of citizens may not interfere with the right to privacy in an unrestricted way. Too much permissible interference means the risk of serious abuse. It is especially important in the case of Internet data and the establishment of fixed connections for acquiring them.
